VENICE CARNIVAL – DANCE AND MUSIC, A BAROQUE PLAY AN UTTERLY ENCHANTING AND UNIQUE PERFORMANCE
- during the play you will see the impeccable artistry of the Commedia dell’arte – human pyramids, baroque dances… at the Phantom’s order the Lazzi begin. These were a traditional part of the carnival – the story pauses and the performers show off their artistry…
LIVING STATUES – the guests enter the hall, where living statues from the Commedia dell’arte stand on raised plinths, lit with coloured lights. Colourful baroque carnival costumes, masks and props. The other figures move around the “statues” to complete the atmosphere, to the accompaniment of live baroque music. THE PHANTOM – the central figure in the Venice Carnival. He comperes the whole evening and guides the individual events. He brings the statues to life, and they step down to join the audience and act out the different parts of the comedy. Live baroque music is incorporated into the story. THE LOVE OF THE FAIR SYLVIA AND FLAVIO – her mother, Dorimona, is against the match and offers the old, wealthy Vdolek from Vdolkov to her daughter. But we won’t tell you any more for now…The play is followed by a disco with music from the 70s, 80s, 90s and the present. At midnight there are fireworks in the chateau’s gardens, and then the disco continues.
